Thai opposition leaders surrender to avoid further bloodshed
BANGKOK. May 19. KAZINFORM Thai opposition leaders on Wednesday broke up a rally and surrendered to police to avoid further loodshed, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
The decision to surrender was announced at the rally by seven so-called red shirt leaders from the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.
Four of the leaders have already arrived at the country's national police headquarters, which is 300 meters from where the meeting took place.
Violence broke out on Thursday night after government troops were deployed to seal off an opposition encampment in attempts to end riots, which have been ongoing since March 14.
