?Tengizchevroil? LLP extracted 17.3 mln tons of oil last year

ATYRAU. February 5. KAZINFORM /Andrey Sokolov/ ?Tengizchevroil? LLP extracted 17.3 mln metric tons or 137.8 mln barrels of oil in 2008, Kazinform correspondent reports. The increase in extraction was due to the fact that ?Tengizchevroil? completed the capacity expansion project in the third quarter of last year. Daily oil production increased to 70 thousand metric tons or 560 thousand barrels. Besides oil, the enterprise also extracted 859 thousand metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 3.8 bln cubic meters of lean gas and 2.23 mln tons of sulfur. Direct payments to the state amounted to USD 6.5 bln in 2008 that is on USD 3.5 bln more than in 2007.

Tengiz oil field was discovered in 1979 and is one of the deepest and largest oil fields in the world. ?Tengizchevroil? LLP was established on April, 6, 1993 on the agreement between Kazakhstan and ?Chevron? Company. According to estimations oil productive capacity of Tengiz oil field can be amounted to 750 mln or 1.1 bln metric tons (6-9 bln barrels) till April, 2033.
