Ten killed, 130 injured in Nevsky Express train accident - source

MOSCOW. November 28. KAZINFORM Ten passengers were killed and about 130 injured when a Russian train bound from Moscow to St. Petersburg derailed, an emergencies ministry source said Saturday; Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.

Two Emergency Situations Ministry aircraft are heading to the accident site carrying equipment for a mobile hospital to render medical assistance to injured passengers of the Nevsky Express train whose last four cars went off the railway tracks.

It was not immediately clear what caused the accident.

A Moscow police source told RIA Novosti earlier that the train driver had used the emergency brakes just before the derailment; Kazinform cites RIA Novosti.
