Teaching assistant fired for slapping schoolboy in Taraz

Akerke Rakhmanova, 21, is accused of slapping an 11-year-old schoolboy in the face during an English class at secondary school №46 in Taraz. The teaching assistant excused herself by saying the boy verbally abused one of his classmates. Despite the fact that Ms Rakhmanova had publicly apologized to the boy and his family, she was fired. The Taraz education department says slapping or hitting by a school employee isn't allowed.
