Teacher showed signs of aggression at school days before stabbing 8yo student in South Korea: police
A teacher accused of stabbing an 8-year-old student to death at an elementary school in the central city of Daejeon was found to have shown signs of aggression toward another teacher days before the incident, police said Tuesday, Yonhap reports.
The female teacher in her 40s admitted to stabbing the girl after both were found with stab wounds on the second floor of the school on Monday. The girl was later pronounced dead at a hospital due to excessive bleeding.
According to the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education and the police, the teacher was involved in an incident with a fellow teacher at the school last Thursday. The suspect was sitting curled up at the time and reportedly twisted the arm of the other teacher who approached to ask if anything was wrong.
The two were separated by other faculty members, but no reports were filed with the police.
The suspect was found to have returned to the school in December after taking a leave due to psychological issues.
Police said they have asked the National Forensic Service to conduct an autopsy of the child's body to help determine the exact cause of death.
They also plan to question the teacher, who is recovering at a hospital, on whether she premeditated the crime and its motive.
Earlier it was reported that multiple people were stabbed in January at a train station in central Japan, a hub of transport to ski areas, leaving one man with no vital signs, while the male suspect fled the scene.
