Taliban attack kills 2 NATO soldiers in S. Afghanistan
KABUL. October 14. KAZINFORM Taliban-linked activities claimed the lives of two more NATO soldiers in south Afghanistan on Thursday, bringing the number of casualties to seven in a single day, the alliance said in a statement, Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
"Two International Security Assistance Force service members died following an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan today," the statement confirmed.
However, it did not identify the nationalities of the victims, saying it is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.
The alliance in separate statements early in the day confirmed losing five more soldiers in Taliban-linked activities particularly Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks Thursday.
More than 580 NATO soldiers with majority of them Americans have been killed so far this year in Afghanistan.
Meantime, an official with Wardak's provincial administration Shahidullah Shahid said that four Taliban militants including their commander Mullah Asil were captured during a joint Afghan and NATO-led forces operation in Syed Abad district Thursday, Kazinform cites Xinhua. See www.xinhuanet.com
