«Switzerland-Kazakhstan» inter-parliamentary coop to be strengthened

ASTANA. October 1. KAZINFORM - Today the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ikram Adyrbekov met with the head of the inter-parliamentary cooperation group "Switzerland-Kazakhstan" of the Federal Assembly of the Swiss Confederation Christian Miesch.

The main purpose of the meeting was the strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

Adyrbekov also stressed that Kazakh MPs are interested in the development of multilateral contacts with Swiss colleagues within the framework of international parliamentary organizations such as the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE, the Council of Europe and NATO as well as the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Miesch, representing the DCAF (Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces) organization, invited Kazakh parliamentarians to actively cooperate with the Centre and become a full member of the DCAF. As it is known, Kazakhstan joined the organization last year as an observer.

Adyrbekov also invited Swiss companies to take part in the World Exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana.
