The Airbus 319 with 123 passengers and seven crew members on board was to travel to Zurich, but turned around and landed at St.Petersburg's Pulkovo airport because of an engine problem, Interfax cited a local prosecutor as saying.

"After the plane's takeoff at 3 p.m. Moscow time (1200 GMT), the crew informed authorities that there were vibrations in an engine," the official said.

He said an examination showed that a bird had flown into the plane's engine and that it had caused the vibrations, Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
