Sustainable development of Central Asia - important direction of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in OSCE
ASTANA. April 27. KAZINFORM /Aigul Turysbekova/ Sustainable development of Central Asia is an important direction of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE. Director of Kazakhstan Strategic Research Institute under the President of Kazakhstan Bulat Sultanov said it at a roundtable entitled "Security and Cooperation in North-East Asia and OSCE: Multilateral Cooperation on Security and Nonproliferation" in Almaty on Tuesday.
According to him, Astana is planning to use the OSCE potential for developing regional cooperation and initiating collective counteraction against new threats and challenges.
"Kazakhstan takes as a premise that the world system of international relations entered a new stage of development mostly aimed at transforming the entire structure of geopolitical and geoeconomic relations", B. Sultanov said.
OSCE Representative Paul Fritch considers that each Central Asian region has its historical and cultural background. "However, it is possible to learn from the long experience of the OSCE", the diplomat said. He reminded that the problem of Kyrgyzstan occurred in the year of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE. "Kazakhstan, as the nearest neighbor of Kyrgyzstan, managed to settle the conflict. Besides, it can render support in the process of formation of the Kyrgyz constitution", he added.
Representatives of Kazakh Foreign Ministry, experts from Kazakhstan, Austria, Belgium, Germany, S Korea, Russia and the USA attended the meeting.
