Survivor of AN-2 plane crash in critical, but stable condition - reports

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Assem Shayakhmetova who miraculously survived the deadly AN-2 plane crash in Zhambyl region ‘is in critical, but stable' condition.

According to reports, she was transported to the Kazakh capital Astana by air. "Air transport was used to transport the 29-year-old Shayakhmetova to Astana this morning at around 5:35 a.m. Currently, she is being evaluated at an intensive care unit. She was diagnosed with closed craniocerebral injury, brain concussion, and multiple fractures. In general, she is in critical, but stable condition," deputy head of the Astana healthcare department Sabit Abdraimov said at a press briefing on Thursday. "Assem requires three surgeries. We are also going to evaluate her spinal cord and brain," Mr. Abdraimov added. Assem Shayakhmetova is the only survivor of the AN-2 plane crash in Zhambyl region that shocked Kazakhstan this Tuesday (January 20).
