Summer school on environmental conservation of the Caspian Sea opens in Aktau
AKTAU. July 22. KAZINFORM In Aktau under the educational program named "The Caspian seal and biodiversity of the Caspian Sea" "Eco Mangistau" non-governmental organization with the support of NCOC company there has been opened the first summer school on ecological biodiversity of the Caspian Sea.
The ceremony was attended by Akim of the city of Aktau Edil Zhanburshin.
About the opening of the school it has been stated earlier, during discussing the problem of declining population of the seal, as well as other issues related to the environment of the Caspian Sea; at the forum on these issues.
"Well-trained young professionals, having a fresh look at the problem, we are sure, will be able to propose effective measures to address it. Therefore one of the goals of the event is to increase students' knowledge about the causes affecting the seal population decline, and the current state. NCOC has supported the initiative offered by "Eco Mangistau" NGO and sponsored the event ", said the director of Eco Mangistau Kirill Osin.
"Only this year KZT11.61 billion have been budgeted for implementation of more than 20 environmental measures. In general, the consortium intends to master considerably more resources to protecting the health, safety and environment. The company is working closely with the Ministry of Environment for our activities to meet the requirements of Kazakhstan's legislation and to minimize any impact on environment ", said at the opening of the school the NCOC regional director Rustem Ilyasov.
According to the results of open competition there have been selected 30 participants - students from Russia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, which has enhanced the status of the school to the international level. Students at the recreation center called «Tree of Life» on the shore of the Caspian Sea from the experts of the Astrakhan State Technical University and the International Ocean Institute on the problems of the Caspian Sea will learn about the methods of assessment of the Caspian seal population, analyze the causes that lead to number reduction. During the practical sessions there will be a collection of expert materials, and master-class visiting. The school program has been worked out for 5 working days, so it is very intense, beginning at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 10:00 p.m.
