Strategic partnership agreement brought Kazakh-Turkish cooperation to a qualitatively new level - A. Davutoglu

ASTANA-AKORDA. February 11. KAZINFORM. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has received Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu today; the Presidential press service told Kazinform.

The parties discussed the prospects of development of Kazakh-Turkish relations in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The Kazakh leader expressed satisfaction with the progress of realization of the agreements reached during his state visit to Turkey in October 2009 and within the Summit of the Heads of the Turkic Speaking States held in Nakhchivan city.

Mr. Davutoglu appraised the success of Kazakhstan achieved under the leadership of N. Nazarbayev.

"The strategic partnership agreement, signed in October 2009, brought Kazakh-Turkish cooperation to a qualitatively new level", the Minister noted.

A. Davutoglu informed that the two countries agreed that the Turkish embassy in the third countries, having no Kazakh diplomatic missions, will represent the interests of the citizens of Kazakhstan. Besides, it is planned to extend visa-free stay of citizens of Kazakhstan in Turkey and citizens of Turkey in Kazakhstan from one to three months.

The Turkish Minister stressed that corresponding agreements would be signed in May 2010 within the framework of Turkish President Abdullah Gul's visit to Kazakhstan.

"Today we have agreed that the secretariat of the Council for Cooperation of Turkic Speaking State initiated by President Nursultan Nazarbayev will be located in Istanbul. A Turkic Academy will be established in Kazakhstan", the Minister said.

Turkey also intends to support holding of the OSCE Summit in Astana and actively cooperation with Kazakhstan in all international organizations.
