Storm alert in effect in 17 regions of Kazakhstan Mon

Thunderstorms are set to hit the Kazakh capital on May 20 with hail and high wind predicted during the day.

Heavy downpours, thunderstorms and squalls are expected in Shymkent as well as Akmola, Almaty, Zhambyl and Zhetysu regions.

Thunderstorms are forecast to hit Atyrau, East Kazakhstan, and West Kazakhstan regions. The fire threat remains high in the northwest of the regions.

Kostanay region faces heavy rains, thunderstorms, fog, and high wind.

Thunderstorms, squalls and dust storms are forecast for Kyzylorda, North Kazakhstan, and Mangistau regions.
