Statistics Agency: Kazakhstan's GDP grew by 6.5% in Q1, 2011
ASTANA. April 14. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Chairman of the Kazakh Statistics Agency Alikhan Smailov has participated today in an online conference held at BNews portal. According to him, the country's GDP growth in the first quarter of 2011 made 6.5%.
"Gross domestic product in the first three months of 2011 rose by 6.5%. Short-term economic indicator rose by 7.1%. Industrial output in the first quarter made KZT 3 trln 661 bln having increased by 6%. Gross agricultural product made KZT 175 bln having increased by 1.8%. Capital investments made KZT 692 bln that is 7.4% higher against the first quarter of 2010 index", A. Smailov said.
"Cargo turnover in January-March 2011 rose by 16.7%, retail commodity turnover - by 11.9% and wholesale trade turnover - by 15.6%", he added.
