State-of-the-Nation Address inspires new name for Kazakhstan's top university
ALMATY. KAZINFORM - The recent State-of-the-Nation Address of President Nursultan Nazarbayev has inspired the leadership of the Ryskulov Kazakh Economic University to change its name.
"In his address the Head of State defined the strategic development of our economy in the long-term. It is of paramount importance since it is impossible to join the world's top 30 developed countries based on the previous model of economic growth," said rector of the Ryskulov Kazakh Economic University Serik Svyatov. The President stressed that Kazakhstan needs highly skilled specialists and new technologies in order to fulfill the tasks of national economy. "I would like to add that we need specialists to create those new technologies. And I believe that domestic higher education institutions are to play a big role in that. We should train people who see the big picture, who think big, but act taking into account national peculiarities and interests," he stressed. "Given the new goals outlined in the address, we've made a decision to rename our university into the New Economic University. This means we will offer new academic programs, new approaches to education, new quality of teaching," Serik Svyatov added.
