«Stability, security and peace» conference held in Zagreb

ASTANA. August 30. KAZINFORM - On August 29 the Croatian capital has hosted an international conference called "Stability, security and peace" dedicated to the International Day against Nuclear Tests and the 22nd anniversary of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site closure.

The organizers of the conference are the Kazakh Embassy in Croatia and Hammershelda Graduate School of International Relations and Diplomacy in Zagreb, according to the press service of the Embassy.

Opening the conference Ivo Slaus, the famous physicist, president of the Croatian Pugwash Committee and Academician, noted the importance of joint efforts and actions of the international community to reduce nuclear threat on the planet. In this context he emphasized the great contribution and leadership of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Nursultan Nazarbayev to the global process of disarmament and non-proliferation.

Charge d'Affaires of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Croatia Tolezhan Barlybayev talked about a wide range of national measures in the field of nuclear safety, nuclear-free initiatives in Astana, Kazakhstan's participation in the Global Partnership of «G- 8» countries against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. As part of the speech, "ATOM" global project initiated by Astana was presented at the conference.
