Sri Lanka Foreign Minister arrived in Astana for official visit

ASTANA. May 24. KAZINFORM Today Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerzhan Kazykhanov has met with Minister of External Affairs of Sri Lanka Gamini Lakshman Peiris, who arrived for the first official visit in Astana.

"I think this meeting will give impetus to enlarging and strengthening the relationship between our countries," Y. Kazykhanov said at a briefing following the negotiations.

According to him, a wide range of bilateral issues in the field of strengthening of political and economic cooperation between our countries, as well as Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka's activity within the international organizations was discussed during the meeting.

"Investment projects in the field of engineering, energy, agriculture, chemical, and light industry are of great interest for us," Kazykhanov added.

Memorandum of understanding on consultations between Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Sri Lankan Ministry of External Affairs was signed following the meeting.

Gamini Lakshman Peiris is expected to meet with Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov and Kazakh Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev.
