Specific measures to raise competitiveness of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy – Competition Protection Agency

KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Certain measures of state support will increase competitive advantage of "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" JSC within the common customs space; Chairman of the Competition Protection Agency Mazhit Yessenbayev has said it today at the enlarged session of the collegium.
"We think it is necessary to determine certain measures of state support of the national operator in this field (railway industry) that is of primary importance with the account of market expansion and strengthening of competition within the Customs Union", - he underlined.
According to him, "the implementation of measures in the mid-term period will raise competitiveness of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and let Kazakhstani transport operators compete with Russian companies".
He also reminded that the railway industry is still monopolized. As a result of the monopolization competitiveness is limited in this sphere.
"The development of competitiveness in this segment of the market will be considered within the program "Development of the Railway Transport Industry till 2020", - he added.
