Special economic zones in Kazakhstan develop domestic market providing more jobs
ASTANA. November 9. KAZINFORM - In March of this year, a law went into effect which is aimed at creating more incentives and lower barriers to investment in special economic zones. Further development of the SEZ (special economic zones) in Kazakhstan will allow investment in regional economies and provide a higher rate of return from production in these areas.
President Nursultan Nazarbayev on July 21, 2011 signed the law named "On special economic zones in the Republic of Kazakhstan " directed to improving the management and functioning of special economic zones. The law allows the zones to attract a professional management company. In addition, the law defined a package of tax incentives. And in 2013 there were made new changes and additions.
On the territory of Kazakhstan there operate 10 special economic zones. Industrial and manufacturing zones are the as follows: "Seaport Aktau ", "Ontustik" , "National Industrial Petrochemical Technology Park ", in the part of the industrial sub-zones - "Sary-Arka", "Pavlodar" , "Khorgos - Eastern Gate " and "Chemical Park" Taraz". Service ones are "Burabai " and " Astana - new city" in the construction of the sub-zone. Technology development zone is called Park of innovative technologies." On the instructions of the Head of State in all regions there will be created industrial zones .
As of July 29, 2013 the registered number of participants of such zones amount to 492.
We can assume that our laws regulating the work and the establishment of SEZ will have a stimulating effect on production, will integrate the products into the domestic market, as well as provide additional jobs. As a result of accelerated development in Kazakhstan we will have modern high-performance, competitive production, and additional investment will be attracted and new technologies will be introduced.
The territory of "Astana - a new city" includes the industrial area of Astana - Industrial Park. Investors who have placed in the high-tech industrial park production, were able to get set for the SEZ preferences and privileges. The industrial park is of 598 hectares. At present, the industrial park in the capital announced 48 projects with an investment of up to 179 billion tenge. At the same time, 11 companies have already started their activities.
At the moment, the total amount of investments in the territory of the special economic zone - "Astana - new city" has become more than 2 trillion tenge, including development - $ 1.1 trillion tenge, including 125.3 billion in 2012.
