Sowing campaign kicks off throughout Kazakhstan
The sowing campaign began all over Kazakhstan, Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov told the Government meeting, Qazinform News Agency reports.
As of now, 4.5 million hectares have been sown in Kazakhstan, including grains — about 2 million ha, oilseeds — over 1 million ha, fodder crops — 388,000 ha, vegetables and potatoes — 206,300 ha and cotton — 154,000 ha.
He noted that sowing was preceded by soil preparation, including moisture retention, pre-sowing treatment, and spring plowing.
He said the Ministry is also monitoring the condition of winter crops, which cover about 400,000 ha. Currently, 94% of winter sowings are in optimal condition.
Additionally, the Industry and Digital Development Ministry has launched a pilot digital platform to collect data on sowing progress. Future upgrades will integrate artificial intelligence for production analysis and forecasting. Work is also underway to ensure seed quality, with a total demand of 2.3 million tons meeting Class 1 and 2 standards. Domestic fertilizer prices have been fixed.
He stressed a roadmap has been developed, setting financing criteria and indicators for grain storage expansion. With full funding, elevator capacity is expected to grow by 1 million tons.
To note, Kazakhstan’s sown area reaches 23.8 mln hectares.
