South Kazakhstan tourism cluster has good prospects - Premier Massimov

MKENT. October 30. KAZINFORM. /Tatyana Pylayeva/ Tourism cluster of South Kazakhstan region has good prospects. Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov said during a visiting session of the State Commission for Economy Modernization in Shymkent on Friday.

"Historically, there are many important places. First of all, Turkestan that is situated on the territory of the region. The decisions made today will have far-reaching consequences", K. Massimov said.

The tourism development is one of the top priority tasks for the regional authorities. "South Kazakhstan region has such historical monuments and landmarks as Khoja Akhmed Yassaui Mausoleum in Turkestan, the city of Otrar oasis - Otrar, Altyn-tobe and other towns located on the Great Silk Road. It is possible to build modern historical complexes of their basis", Deputy Akim of the region Ali Bektayev said. He told about the region's plans to develop historical, pilgrim, ecological tourism.

K. Massimov noted that Western Europe - Western China road corridor would become a good basis for tourism development.
