Six workers hurt in coalmine accident in Russia's Kemerovo region

KEMEROVO. February 5. KAZINFORM Six workers were hurt in a coalmine accident in Russia's Kemerovo region, a source at the regional emergency situations department told Itar-Tass.

"Methane exploded at the Voroshilov coalmine in Prokopyevsk. Four workers got burns. Another two workers asked for medical aid later on," he said.

There were eight workers on the explosion scene, and all of them reached the surface unaided. Four were hospitalized with medium serious injuries.

The coalmine operation is suspended, and a commission is investigating the methane explosion.

The mine is a component of the Siberian Business Union, Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
