Preliminary reports suggest the bus driver apparently ran a red light at an unstaffed rail crossing.

"Six people were killed and six injured," the source said, adding that the bus had 15 people on board.

The press service of Russian Railways (RZD) said two people were killed.

"The engineer applied the emergency brake, but he could not avoid colliding with the bus," the rail monopoly said in a statement, adding that the cause of the accident would be established once emergency services and rail engineers finished working at the scene; Kazinform cites RIA Novosti.
