Singapore more prepared to handle pandemic
SINGAPORE. August 11. KAZINFORM Singapore has been more prepared to tackle the A/H1N1 outbreak this time round, responding very swiftly with measures to keep the situation under control; Kazinform cites Xinhua.
Singapore's Minister for Community and Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan said Tuesday at a national day observance ceremony at the National University Hospital.
He said that the SARS episode and the ongoing Influenza A/H1N1outbreak have reminded Singaporeans that Singapore is vulnerable to infectious diseases and epidemics from around the world.
"With the SARS episode deeply entrenched in our minds, Singapore has been more prepared to tackle the H1N1 outbreak this time round," he said; Kazinform has learnt from Xinhua.
