ANA. January 14. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ "Since 1991 Kazakhstan has greatly contributed to strengthening regional and global security. Closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear-testing site, voluntary renunciation of the fourth in the world nuclear-missile arsenal and full liquidation of its infrastructure became a historical decision for our country", Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev has said at the inauguration session of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna.

The President reminded of the resolution of the UN General Assembly on announcement of August 29 the International Day of Actions against Nuclear Testing.

"Kazakhstan fully realizes its role as a responsible participant of the regional and global economic processes. Exporting hydrocarbons to the world markets our country makes a great contribution to ensuring regional energy security including Europe. As a large grain exporter Kazakhstan promotes achievement of the Millennium Goals in overcoming starvation and solution of the problem of food security worldwide", N. Nazarbayev noted.

According to him, the initiative on convocation of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia has become a unique tool of security and cooperation on the Asian continent. The CICA to date is a like an analogue of the OSCE in Asia. It unites the countries providing the third of the global GDP with the population of 3 bln people.
