"Shymkent should become the center where experts of innovation and industry will live," said the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev during his working visit to South Kazakhstan region, the press service of the regional Akimat informs. Head of State familiarized himself with activities carried out in the region and met with the public. He stressed that the creation of large agglomerations strengthens the economy of the country. The President also praised the work of the Mayor of South Kazakhstan region Askar Myrzahmetov. During his visit to Shymkent Nursultan Nazarbayev attended the opening of Turkestan Congress Hall, the newly-constructed Kazakh Drama Theater and unveiled Rixos Hotel in Shymkent. In addition, the President was reported on the development of tourism opportunities of the city as the third metropolis of the country. Therefore, it is planned to construct a historical and cultural area, which will consist of "Nauryz" square, a regional history museum, and a center of customs and rituals.
