Shymkent and 7 Kazakh rgns put on storm alert

Storm alert has been issued for the city of Shymkent and seven regions of Kazakhstan for January 25, Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazhydromet National Met Office.

Shymkent city is to brace for heavy precipitation as rain and snow late in the day on January 25. Fog is to coat the city at times. 15-20mps southwesterly wind turning northwestward is predicted.

Abai region is to see ground blizzard in the west, south, and center. 15-20mps easterly, southeasterly wind with gusts of up to 25mps is predicted in the west, south, and center.

Ground blizzard is expected in the west, north, and south of Karaganda region. Fog is to coat the north and east of the region.

Kostanay region is to see snow as well as fog and blizzard in the south and east.

Kyzylorda region is to brace for snow. The region’s east and south are to see black ice and fog.

The north and east of Ulytau region are expect blizzard. 15-20mps southeasterly wind is predicted in the region’s east in the daytime.

North Kazakhstan region is to see snow in most parts in the daytime. Ground blizzard is predicted in the south, west in the daytime and in the south, west, and north in the daytime. Fog is to coat the region’s northwest in the nighttime and morning.

Turkestan region is to brace for heavy precipitation as rain and snow as well as black ice in the center, mountainous and sub-mountainous areas in the morning and daytime on January 25. The region’s center, south, west, mountainous and sub-mountainous areas are to expect fog. 15-20mps southwesterly wind turning northwestward is predicted in the north, west, mountainous and sub-mountainous areas of the region.
