"A very serious terrorist action was prevented in Dagestan on the eve of May 9," he said. "A suspicious car was detained at a police post. As a result of its pursuit by police is overturned and a major explosion occurred. It was found out that the vehicle was heading for Kaspiisk to stage a major terror act in a military unit there," the minister noted.

According to him, another successful police operation was conducted in Chechnya. "A suicide bomber terrorist was neutralised and liquidated in the Chechen Republic on the eve of May 9," Nurgaliyev said.

The Interior Ministry has also neutralised criminals that were plotting a terror act in the Russian capital. "Just recently extremists have been exposed in Moscow that were trying to stage a subversive-terrorist act in the city. A homemade time bomb has been found," the interior minister indicated.

"Judging from what was planned, these would be high-profile explosions that would cause numerous losses among the population," he stressed.

The minister also said that after the terror acts in the Moscow metro and in the North Caucasus, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) drafted a joint action plan. "The main task is pre-emptive work. Information exchange is needed for this, it is necessary to be able to work with the population for getting information," the RF interior minister said; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
