Separate waste collection program launched in Astana
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - A pilot project on the separate collection of domestic garbage has been launched in the capital, Kazinform has learnt from the website of Astana city administration.
The project plans to separately collect paper, plastic and mixed garbage. Thus, three dumpsters of different colors (paper - blue, plastic - yellow, mixed waste - green) will be placed on container area of courtyards. The pilot project will involve 36 houses and 17 condominiums. It is planned to install 108 dumpsters on 54 container platforms. In addition, beginning from March 1, it is planned to implement a pilot project on the separate collection of electronic waste together with the United Nations Development Programme. Special eco-boxes will be installed in condos as part of the project.
