Senate Speaker receives Korean Ambassador
ASTANA. September 11. KAZINFORM Today Senate Speaker Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev has received Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of Korea Lee Byung-hwa; the Senate's press service reports.
The issues of further development of bilateral Kazakh-Korean relations, including interparliamentary ties, were discussed at the meeting.
"The positions of Kazakhstan and Korea coincide on a lot of international and regional issues. Mutual interest in the interstate ties activation promotes interaction expansion and mutual understanding strengthening", the Senate Speaker said.
The Ambassador noted dynamics of the Kazakh-Korean relations development and spoke for further strengthening of the political dialog and economic cooperation.
The diplomat highly appraised Kazakhstan's initiatives in the sphere of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation and emphasized Kazakhstan's position on North Korea's nuclear program and normalization of the inter-Korean relations.
Lee Byung-hwa expressed gratitude for invitation of the Korean delegation to take part in the V General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties, which will be held in Astana on September 24-26, 2009.
The Ambassador invited K.Tokayev to pay an official visit to Korea on the behalf of the Korean Speaker.
