Senate Speaker K. Tokayev had bilateral meetings in Geneva

ASTANA. July20. KAZINFORM Chairman of the Kazakh Senate Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev has had several bilateral meetings in Geneva within the International Conference of Parliament Speakers, Kazinform refers to the Senate's press service.

At the meeting with Chairman of the Council of Republic of the Belarus National Assembly Anatoly Rubinov the parties focused on the prospects of further development of the Kazakhstan-Belarus cooperation, improvement of the legal framework of the Customs Union.

"Establishment of the Customs Union and then the Single Economic Space is a brand new step directed on real development of integration and demonstrates our interest in promotion of cooperation with Belarus in all spheres", K. Tokayev stated.

At the meeting with Chairman of Majlis of Iran Ali Larijani the parties expressed satisfaction with the dynamics of bilateral relations and highlighted mutual aspiration for broadening interaction in many spheres including the inter-parliamentary dialogue and cultural-humanitarian spheres considering it as an important factor of strengthening good-neighborhood climate and cooperation in the region.

"Kazakhstan appreciates support of our initiatives by Iran including the CICA, the Congress of World and Traditional Religions Leaders", K. Tokayev said and invited his colleague to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan.

The international and regional problems, energy cooperation were on agenda of K. Tokayev's meeting with Chairman of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Oqtay Asadov. The Kazakh Speaker expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for the contribution to development of the Turkic-speaking countries Parliamentary Assembly created on the initiative of Nursultan Nazarbayev.

K. Tokayev met also with Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Luca Bebic and Chairman of the Senate of the Netherlands Parliament Rene van der Linden for discussing further development of bilateral cooperation and strengthening the inter-parliamentary ties.

Senator Orynbay Rakhmanberdiyev and Deputy of the Majilis Bagila Baimagambetova took part in the meetings.
