Senate ratified Convention on CIS near-border cooperation
ASTANA. January 28. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ The Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament has adopted the Bill On ratification of the Convention on the CIS countries' near-border cooperation.
"The Convention on CIS near-border cooperation was signed by the heads of Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan on October, 10, 2008 in Bishkek. The Convention aims at formation of the legal space for near-border cooperation of the CIS countries", Executive Secretary of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rapil Zhoshybayev said.
According to him, the Convention defines major directions of activity for the CIS states in near-border territories as well as adoption of the measures on simplification of the procedures of near-border, customs, migration and other types of control. In accordance with Article 3 of the Convention near-border cooperation is carried out primarily on the basis of the agreements among the authorised bodies with the abidance by laws of CIS member states and regulations of the international law.
