Senate passed law on creation of single public procurement authority
Astana. December 26. KAZINFORM - Kazakh Senate passed a law "On amendments to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on public procurements".
The law is aimed at promoting competition, corruption reduction and enhancement of procurements' effectiveness. To minimize corruption, increase control and ensure selection of qualified providers, the law envisages the establishment by the central government, regional governors, mayors of regional centers and Astana of a single procurement authority responsible for arranging public procurements of goods, services and works through competitions and auctions.
To harmonize the law "On public procurements" with the Agreement on public (municipal) procurements made within the Single Economic Space of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia under its legal framework, the law provides for the introduction of a special national regime for public procurements.
