Seminar for judges on application of int'l mechanisms of human rights protection underway in Astana
ASTANA. KAZINFORM The two-day seminar for judges on application of international mechanisms of human rights protection and fair trial standards has started its work today in Astana. It is aimed at raising the awareness of regional judges in direct application of international human rights standards and human rights-based approach in justice delivering.
The event is organized by the OSCE Centre in Astana, Academy of Public Administration, Friedrich Ebert Foundation. It is led by national experts, who will share their experience in implementation of international instruments against torture and ill-treatment, as well as provide an overview of OSCE commitments in the broader context of international human rights law. Participants will also learn about international human rights protection mechanisms, regulation of limitations and derogations from the core human rights norms, international fair trial standards, objectives and practices of the UN treaty bodies with regards to protection of fair trial standards, the OSCE Centre in Astana said.
