Semey hails Nauryz celebrations

ASTANA. KAZINFORM Celebratory events on the occasion of Nauryz meiramy are underway in Semey. 46 yurts were mounted around the city to propagate the national holiday.
Since early morning people have gathered on the central square. City governor Karimov and head of the East Kazakhstan public union of Germans Goncharuk delivered opening addresses. More than 20,000 people participated in the celebratory events. A theatrical performance, a solemn concert, sports events, an arts and crafts exhibition were organized there. Those gathered tasted pulaff, kumiss, and nauryz kozhe which is the symbol of Nauryz and other dishes. The celebrations will end with a concert and fireworks.
