Security initiative in Central Asia must be key issue of OSCE Summit: First US Ambassador to Kazakhstan W.Courtney
ALMATY. April 27. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ "If the OSCE Summit is held in Astana, there exists a necessity of making contributions to all three OSCE "baskets" in order to build a wide analytical agreement at the Summit", First US ambassador to Kazakhstan William Courtney has said at the IX Eurasian Media Forum in Almaty today.
He noted that the security initiative in Central Asia must be a key issue of the OSCE Summit. Transportation is an important issue of economic and ecological dimensions. The First American Ambassador to Kazakhstan believes that intergovernmental agreements able to increase transportations through Central Asia are necessary here.
"Another dimension of the economic field is improvement of transparency on energy resources issues and other spheres of economy. This is an important issue for Central Asia aimed at attraction of investments to the region and building up the public confidence in the fact that the revenues from this type of activity go to the state budget properly. Concerning the human dimension, it is impossible to change the situation with human rights and democracy development in Central Asian within the frameworks of the OSCE. But it is important for Central Asian countries to believe that the OSCE is on their side", W.Courtney said.
