SCO is vital for Kazakhstan's foreign policy strategy: FM
IJING. September 10. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov said on Friday that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is vital for Kazakhstan's foreign policy strategy.
Kazykhanov made the remark during a speech he delivered at the China Institute of International Studies.
Over the past ten years, the SCO has become a prestigious international organization, playing a positive role in safeguarding regional peace and prosperity and combating new challenges and threats, Kazykhanov said.
The SCO has become a role model for different countries, religious organizations, civilizations and cultures by demonstrating how different groups can peacefully coexist and cooperate with mutual benefit, he added.
Kazykhanov said Kazakhstan is willing to closely cooperate with China to further promote the SCO's role in international affairs, Kazinform quotes Xinhua.
Kazykhanov said Kazakhstan regards China as one of its most important partners and is ready to promote bilateral ties under the basis of equality, mutual benefit and mutual respect.
"Kazakhstan and China have both enjoyed rapid growth in trade and investment cooperation and the two countries have no political disputes. Kazakhstan will actively implement agreements reached by the two countries' leaders." Kazykhanov said.
Kazykhanov is on an official visit to China from Sept. 7 to 9 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi.
