SCO Culture Ministers convene in Beijing
BEIJING. June 5. KAZINFORM The 9th session of the SCO Culture Ministers has opened today in Beijing on the threshold of the SCO Summit.
In his speech of welcome Chinese Minister of Culture Cai Wu underlined it was necessary to define the role of culture and create a cultural platform on the SCO territory. "The influence of culture is enormous. Culture is the power that gives guidelines for the future," the Chinese Minister noted. The Chinese side asks to pay more attention to youth and include the youth projects into the program of cultural cooperation within the SCO.
Culture and Information Minister Darkhan Mynbay of Kazakhstan is expected to take the floor at the session.
Upon results of the session its participants will sign a number of documents and adopt a statement for the press.
After the session Minister Mynbay will attend an exhibition "Painted Silk Road" and take part in the opening ceremony of the Arts Festival of the SCO member countries.
