Saudi company to build solar power plant in Kyrgyzstan

Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ulukbek Maripov met in Riyadh, with Executive Director of Fas Renewable Energy Marcus Schrauf, Kabar reports.

According to the diplomatic mission, during the meeting, the sides discussed issues of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Fas Renewable Energy and the implementation of joint projects for the construction of a solar power plant in Kyrgyzstan.

In particular, Ambassador Maripov shared his opinion and proposals for further intensification of bilateral cooperation with Fas Renewable Energy, noting that for the Kyrgyz side, strengthening ties with Saudi companies in the energy sector is one of the key and priority tasks.

Marcus Schrauf noted that currently, work is being carried out between Fas Renewable Energy and the Green Energy Fund under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic to implement a project to build a solar power plant in Kyrgyzstan with a capacity of up to 900 MW for a total of 500 million US dollars.

As earlier reported, Kyrgyzstan and China strengthened co-op in developing minerals for clean energy technologies.
