Saudabayev had emergency consultations on Kyrgyz situation

ASTANA. June 14. KAZINFORM OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Secretary of State-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev had yesterday a telephone conversation with Head of the Kyrgyz interim government Roza Otunbayeva.

As the press service of the MFA informs, K. Saudabayev expressed condolences upon death and wound of many people in the riots in Osh and serious concern over the continuing violence.

The same day K. Saudabayev had telephone talk with Secretary General of the UN Ban Ki-moon, EU High Representative for International Affairs Catherine Ashton, ministers of foreign affairs of the EU in Spain - Miguel Ángel Moratinos, in Russia - Sergey Lavrov and Turkey - Ahmet Davutoğlu.

The parties exchanged views on the situation in Kyrgyzstan. The OSCE Chairman-in-Office informed the sides of his decision to send his Personal Envoy, Vice Chairman of the Majilis Zhanybek Karibzhanov and heads of the Conflict Prevention Centre of the OSCE Secretariat in Vienna to the neighbor country. In turn, the heads of the UN and the EU informed of their readiness to send their personal envoys to Kyrgyzstan. Having noted the existing experience of cooperation in stabilization of the Kyrgyz situation under the coordination of Z. Karibzhanov, the parties agreed on further close coordination of their efforts.

K. Saudabayev said that from the first days of political crisis in Kyrgyz Republic Kazakhstan and its Leader Nursultan Nazarbayev has provided assistance to the brotherly nation and intend to exert every effort for this both on bilateral base and as the OSCE presiding country.
