Samruk-Kazyna joins International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Capital of the State of Qatar - Doha has hosted a ceremony of signing the agreement on the accession of Samruk-Kazyna to the organization of International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF), according to the press service of the company.
The document was signed by Samruk-Kazyna Board Chairman Umirzak Shukeyev and President of the Forum Bader Mohammad Al-Saad. Samruk-Kazyna became the 26th member of the forum. Formal membership gives "Samruk-Kazyna" the right to participate in the annual meetings of the forum, support of the forum's secretariat, access to the international system of sovereign wealth funds, the possibility of studying the best practices of members and others. Forum is an elite club joining 25 leading sovereign wealth funds, such as "Temasek Holdings", (Singapore), "Khazanah Nasional" (Malaysia), "China Investment Corporation" (China), the National Welfare Fund (Russian Federation), "Qatar Investment Authority" (Qatar), and others. The same day the forum participants were received by the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. In addition, "Samruk-Kazyna" administration held a series of meetings with the companies belonging to the Qatari investment fund. The sides discussed issues of cooperation in the field of alternative energy and mining. International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds was established at a meeting of an international working group of sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) on 5-6 April 2009 in Kuwait as a voluntary association.
