OSAKA. KAZINFORM - Samantha Stosur has won the Japan Women's Open title for a third time, beating Kazakhstan's Zarina Diyas 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 in the final.
The Australian went through the tournament without dropping a set as she added the 2014 title to those she won in 2009 and 2013. The field was not the strongest - world No 18 Stosur was top seed and fifth-seeded Diyas is the world No.37, according to Perth Now However, she'll be happy to take her sixth career WTA title as it's her first since July last year when she beat Victoria Azarenka in a final in Carlsbad, California. It follows some strong form in Beijing last week when she made the semi-finals before losing to Petra Kvitova in three sets.
