S. Korean trawler sinks off Russian coast, leaving one dead, many others missing

MOSCOW. KAZINFORM - At least one person was killed and many others are missing when a South Korean fishing trawler with 62 people on board sank in Russia's Far East coast off Chukotka, local authorities said Monday.

"The Oriong-501 has sunk" and five people, including one Russian citizen, have been rescued, while the rest were still missing, Artur Rets, head of the Petropavlosk-Kamchatsky port's sea coordination and rescue center, told Interfax news agency.

The cause of the incident was yet to be determined, Xinhua said.
