S Korea's industrial power sales increase in June
SEOUL. July 14. KAZINFORM The South Korean government said Tuesday that its industrial power sales marked an on-year increase of 1.1 percent in June mostly due to demand expansion in the oil refining and semiconductor industries; Kazinform cites Xinhua.
According to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, the industrial power consumption increase can be attributed to a rise in energy-intensive industries' demand, more working days, and slight improvements in exports.
Sales to oil refineries and semiconductor firms advanced 10.3 percent and 3.1 percent on year in June, respectively, the ministry said.
In addition, compared to the same period last year, there were 1.5 more working days, which, together with an improving export condition, contributed to a rise in energy sales.
During the first half of this year, however, industrial electricity output declined 0.3 percent annually, the ministry said; Kazinform has learnt from Xinhua.
