S.Akhmetov: Kazakhstan and Latvia able to double the bilateral trade and economic turnover
ASTANA. June 3. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan and Latvia can double trade and economic turnover. This has been announced today at the Kazakh-Latvian business forum by Serik Akhmetov, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
"Economic and trade turnover between Latvia and Kazakhstan is the biggest among the Baltic countries. If you take the absolute numbers, it is about USD 350 million. I said to the President that we could at least double the turnover", said the Prime Minister.
Akhmetov mentioned that Latvia was situated in the heart of the Europe allowing the two countries to cooperate in the field of transfer of new technologies.
"The Head of the Government stressed that the Latvian private capital had been presented in Kazakhstan long time ago. Thus about 130 joint ventures are operating in our country" added S. Akhmetov.
"The entrepreneurs should make the analysis of the joint ventures' work. However, we have a lot of areas and sectors of the economy where Latvian and Kazakhstan businessmen can cooperate", concluded the Prime Minister.
