Russian tour ship goes missing in White Sea

MOSCOW. July 26. KAZINFORM A vessel belonging to a Russian tour company has gone missing in the White Sea, a Russian emergencies spokesman said on Monday, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.

The ship, Varnek, operated by the tour company Nord Way, was carrying five crew members.

"The last radio contact with the missing vessel was at 20:20 Moscow time [16:20 GMT] on July 23. The vessel was 20 miles off the Cape of Kanin Nos," Igor Grigoryev told RIA Novosti.

There were winds of up to 25 m/s in the area where the ship went missing, Grigoryev said.

A Mi-8 rescue helicopter will be sent to look for the missing ship, he added, Kazinform cites RIA Novosti. See www.en.rian.ru
