Russian State Duma ratifies agreement on alliance of Russia and Kazakhstan
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The State Duma has ratified the treaty between Russia and Kazakhstan on good-neighborliness and alliance in the XXI century, RIA Novosti informs.
The treaty was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev November 11, 2013 in the city of Yekaterinburg as the two countries desired to deepen the strategic partnership in order to realize the full potential of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space. The document stipulates that Russia and Kazakhstan shall keep agreed foreign policy, as well as close cooperation in promoting peace, stability and security in Eurasia. The treaty provides for the implementation of a coherent set of measures to manage migration including the free movement of citizens of both states. In addition, the countries shall support the work of the countries' information and cultural centers. There has been provided integration cooperation in the military-technical, social, economic, trade, investment, scientific and technical fields. The sides pledged not to engage in any alliances directed against one of the two countries and agreed that they will not provide assistance to third countries in the event of armed conflict between the countries and the country - party to the contract. The two parties shall expand and deepen cooperation to combat terrorism and other manifestations of extremism and drug trafficking. The agreement will remain in force in parallel with the basic Treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance concluded by the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan on May 25, 1992.
