The space agency has approved a plan of an unscheduled spacewalk for Russian cosmonauts from the International Space Station (ISS) to take the Olympic torch to space, Roscosmos deputy head Vitaly Davydov told local media.

"It will not be a replica but exactly the same kind of torch that will be used at the Olympiad. One of several thousand torches," Interfax news agency quoted Davydov as saying.

According to the official, the Olympic spacewalk plan has been agreed with the Olympics Committee, and the torch will not be burning as open fire was prohibited in the ISS.
