Russia gives final approval to Customs Union gas agreement

MOSCOW. July 15. KAZINFORM Russia has ratified a gas agreement on equal transportation and price terms within the Customs Union between Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, according to a document posted on the Kremlin's web site Thursday. Russia was the last of the three Customs Union member countries to ratify the agreement signed in December 2010.

According to the Customs Union Protocol of October 6, 2007, all trilateral agreements come into force following the approval by the last remaining member state.

According to Platts, under the gas agreement, Customs Union member states are to provide each other with an access to their trunk gas pipelines for gas produced within the Union, abolish any export-import taxes, and reach market gas prices by January 2015, among other issues.
