Russia evacuates citizens of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan from Nepal

MOSCOW. KAZINFORM - Two planes of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations took off from Kathmandu with the citizens of Russia and other states on board who have decided to leave Nepal after the devastating earthquake, Kazinform refers to AKI Press.

Two Ilyushin Il-76 are having 128 citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Latvia, Ukraine and Israel, including a Russian woman whose leg was broken in a collapsing hotel in Kathmandu during one of the aftershocks, according to the Russian Embassy in Nepal. Also, the capital of the South Asian country received more than 2 tons of humanitarian supplies required for priority life necessities in the emergency area, RIA Novosti reports. In the near future, Russian rescuers are expected to join the search operation in the affected areas of Nepal. The earthquake occurred in Nepal on 25 April. Its magnitude was 7.9 with the epicenter 82 kilometers northwest of Kathmandu. The total number of victims, according to latest figures, exceeds 5,000 people. Some of them were killed by the avalanche on the slopes of Mount Everest.
